An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced clinical trials pharmacist to join the Royal North Shore Hospital Clinical Trials Pharmacy team as the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Start-Up Manager. This senior role will lead study start-up activities for a growing portfolio of clinical trials, working closely with sponsors, investigators and research partners to establish new studies and expand access to cutting-edge therapies through world-class clinical research.
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 31 August 2028 (with possibility of ongoing employment)
Position Classification: Pharmacist Grade 3
Remuneration: $2,732.69 - $2,806.64 per week

What You'll Be Doing
As the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Start Up Manager,
you will lead and coordinate pharmacy study start-up activities for a diverse and growing portfolio of clinical trials at Royal North Shore Hospital. Working closely with sponsors, investigators, research teams and pharmacy staff, you will play a key role in establishing new clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading pharmacy study start-up activities, including feasibility assessments, Site Selection Visits (SSVs), protocol review and operational planning.
- Developing Costing of Services Estimates (COSEs), reviewing study budgets and supporting financial sustainability of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy service.
- Preparing and overseeing study-specific pharmacy documentation, workflows and implementation processes to support successful trial activation.
- Collaborating with sponsors, contract research organisations (CROs), investigators, research governance teams and other stakeholders throughout the study start-up process.
- Supporting the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Manager in the management and operational delivery of the Clinical Trials Pharmacy service.
- Leading and supporting pharmacy staff through mentoring, workforce development and performance management activities.
- Identifying opportunities for service growth, process improvement and enhanced research capability within the Clinical Trials Pharmacy.
- Contributing to quality improvement, education and research initiatives that promote excellence in clinical trial pharmacy practice.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply. Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria
- Current registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia with no conditions or restrictions on practice and evidence of extensive relevant hospital experience.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical trial governance requirements, and relevant regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated experience undertaking clinical trial feasibility assessments, coordinating pharmacy Site Selection Visits (SSVs), preparing study-specific pharmacy documentation, and supporting the development of clinical trial budgets and Costing of Services Estimates (COSEs).
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and supporting pharmacy staff, including performance development and workforce planning.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective relationships with sponsors, contract research organisations (CROs), investigators, research governance staff and other key stakeholders to facilitate the successful establishment of clinical trials.
