We're looking for a Commercial Lawyer to join our Commercial Law team and help SME and privately held businesses do deals, manage risk and grow with confidence.

The opportunity

This is a full-time role for a lawyer ready to run their own files. You'll manage a varied caseload of advisory, transactional and contractual work for SME and privately held business clients, reporting directly to our Managing Director, within our Legal Advice & Services division.

It suits a lawyer who enjoys being close to clients: someone with strong drafting skills, a practical, solutions-focused approach, and the drive to build long-term client relationships rather than simply process matters.

What you'll do

· Provide practical, commercially focused advice on commercial risks, opportunities and legal obligations

· Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, terms and conditions, and related agreements

· Act on business sales and acquisitions, including due diligence and transaction documentation

· Advise on shareholder agreements, joint ventures, corporate structuring and business reorganisations

· Support property and commercial transactions, including commercial leasing and related finance and security documentation

· Advise on regulatory compliance, including privacy and intellectual property matters





· Manage client files from initial instructions through to completion, including deadlines, client expectations, time recording and billing

· Build long-term client relationships and contribute to legal research, knowledge management and continuous improvement across the firm.

What you'll bring

· A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), and admission as an Australian legal practitioner with a current unrestricted practising certificate

· At least 2 years' post-admission experience in corporate and commercial law (or transferable experience from commercial litigation)

· Experience advising SME or privately held business clients (highly regarded)

· Experience managing your own caseload and client relationships, ideally in private practice or a professional services environment

· Strong drafting, legal research and advisory skills, with excellent written and verbal communication

· A commercial, solutions-focused mindset and confidence in client-facing work and commercial negotiations

· Knowledge of privacy requirements and regulatory frameworks affecting Australian businesses; commercial litigation or dispute resolution experience is an asset

· The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, managing multiple matters and deadlines with high attention to detail and discretion

· A good sense of humour
