Hays are excited to be partnering with a leading State Government organisation to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager (Major Capital Delivery). This is a fantastic prospect for a commercially astute contracts professional to play a pivotal role in the delivery of major infrastructure and capital works projects, managing the full contract lifecycle from procurement and tendering through to contract administration and close-out.Working within a high-performing project delivery environment, you will provide strategic commercial advice, influence robust procurement outcomes, and ensure contractual and legislative compliance across a diverse portfolio of significant capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle across a portfolio of major capital delivery projects.
- Lead and manage tendering activities, including Expressions of Interest (EOIs), Requests for Tender (RFTs), evaluation processes, and contract negotiations.
- Analyse tender submissions and provide commercial recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Develop, review and negotiate complex contractual agreements to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Assess contractor claims, invoices, variations, extensions of time and contract disputes.
- Collaborate closely with legal, procurement,
finance and project teams to ensure contractual compliance and effective project delivery.
- Lead contractor and supplier performance management activities and reporting obligations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant government policies, legislative requirements and governance frameworks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across contract management and procurement processes.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction and Law or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience managing complex contracts within large infrastructure, construction, engineering or capital works environments.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, tendering and contract management practices.
- Experience working with government or complex framework contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret, negotiate and administer complex contractual arrangements.
- High-level commercial and financial acumen with strong analytical skills.
- Proven ability to assess and manage contract claims, variations and dispute resolution processes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes across multiple business areas.
- Strong written communication, reporting and relationship management capabilities.
