Nyah Oasis Bar and Restaurant is located in Nyah, Victoria and provides quality food, refreshments, and hospitality services to local residents, travellers, workers, and visitors to the region.

Our kitchen serves a variety of freshly prepared meals and takeaway options designed to provide customers with quality, value, and convenience. We focus on maintaining high standards of food preparation, cleanliness, customer service, and consistency.

As part of our ongoing operations, we are looking for a passionate Cook to join our kitchen team and contribute to our commitment to quality food, efficient service, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a variety of meals in accordance with recipes, portion requirements, and quality standards.
- Prepare ingredients, vegetables, meats, sauces, fillings, garnishes, and other food items for daily service.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeaway, and other menu items as required.
- Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, portion sizes, and cooking standards.
- Complete daily mise en place and maintain an organised and efficient kitchen workstation.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, cleaning, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, minimise food wastage, and assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Ensure ingredients and food products are stored correctly and maintained at appropriate temperatures.
- Work closely with other kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth and timely food service.
- Assist with menu preparation, daily specials, and the introduction of new menu items when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of cooking areas, equipment, utensils, and food preparation surfaces.
- Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff where required.

Qualifications & Experience





- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook or in a commercial kitchen setting.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, roadhouse, café, takeaway, or similar hospitality environment is highly regarded.
- Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control, and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness requirements.
- Ability to prepare a variety of meals efficiently and consistently.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Availability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
