Pacific Roots Kava Bar is a welcoming Pacific-inspired space located on Palmers Road, Truganina, VIC. It celebrates Pacific culture and the traditional social experience of kava, offering a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where people can connect, unwind and enjoy the unique flavours and traditions of the Pacific Islands.

About the Position The Customer Care & Sales Representative is responsible for providing professional, friendly and productive customer service while supporting the day-to-day operation of the Kava Bar.

The position acts as a key point of contact for customers and is responsible for welcoming customers, explaining available products, processing sales, preparing and serving approved products in accordance with venue procedures, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a strong customer-service focus, attention to hygiene and safety, and the ability to follow all applicable organisational policies and regulatory requirements relating to the sale and service of kava.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

- Welcome and serve customers in a friendly, respectful and professional manner.
- Process sales, EFTPOS and cash transactions accurately.
- Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for customers.
- Respond appropriately to customer enquiries, concerns and feedback.
- Follow all company procedures relating to the sale.

Cleaning & Venue Presentation

- Cleaning is a key responsibility of this position and forms part of every shift.
- Maintain tables, counters, floors, customer areas and service areas in a clean and presentable condition.
- Regularly clean and sanitise preparation and serving areas.
- Wash and correctly store cups, utensils and equipment.




- Empty rubbish bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Clean toilets and amenities as required.
- Complete end-of-shift cleaning duties and ensure the venue is left clean, hygienic, organised and ready for the next trading day.
- Immediately clean spills and address or report any hygiene or safety hazards.
- Assist with periodic deep cleaning when requested.

General Operations

- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor stock and notify Management when supplies require replenishment.
- Assist with receiving, organising and storing stock.
- Follow workplace health and safety, hygiene and security procedures.
- Complete other reasonable duties requested by Management.

Requirements

Essential

- Previous customer service, hospitality, retail or sales experience, preferably within a customer-facing venue.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A friendly and professional approach to customer service.
- Ability to communicate confidently with customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Good numeracy and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to operate or learn point-of-sale systems.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively during busy periods.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to follow policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Reliability, punctuality and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working Hours & Availability

- The employee's initial core rostered working days will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, starting at 4:00 PM and continuing as required by the venue's operating needs.
- The position may also require flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
