This opportunity sits within a specialist engagement supporting a secure and highly regulated client workplace. The successful consultant will provide hands-on technical expertise to upgrade and migrate a business-critical enterprise data platform running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced DataStage Upgrade SME to lead the installation, configuration and upgrade of an enterprise Information Server and DataStage environment.

This is a focused, delivery-oriented engagement requiring someone who can quickly assess the existing DataStage 11.7.1 environment, define the target architecture and take ownership of the upgrade through installation, migration, testing and go-live validation.

You will work closely with the client’s technical teams to establish a new production setting on RHEL 9.6, apply the latest supported patches and ensure the new platform is configured consistently with the existing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess the current DataStage 11.7.1 environment and define the target-state architecture.
- Install and configure a production instance of Information Server 11.7.1.6 on RHEL 9.6.
- Apply required patches and bring the platform to the latest supported level.
- Configure the new environment to align with the existing platform setup.
- Support the migration of DataStage jobs, configurations, metadata, scripts and related assets.
- Assist with regression testing, defect resolution and technical troubleshooting.
- Support go-live planning, readiness activities and post-upgrade validation.




- Identify and resolve compatibility, configuration and performance issues.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering installation, configuration and operational procedures.
- Work collaboratively with infrastructure, application, data and security stakeholders.
- Where appropriate, support additional capabilities such as Operations Console, Information Governance Catalog and operational metadata lineage.

The Successful Candidate You will be a senior DataStage specialist with substantial hands-on experience delivering platform installations, upgrades and migrations within complex enterprise environments.

This role requires more than DataStage development experience. You must have strong platform-level capability and be confident taking ownership of the installation, configuration, migration and technical validation process.

Essential Experience

- At least five years’ experience working with DataStage.
- Strong hands-on experience with DataStage 11.7 installation and configuration.
- Demonstrated experience upgrading Information Server and DataStage environments.
- Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience.
- Experience installing and configuring DataStage on RHEL.
- Proven capability migrating DataStage jobs, metadata, scripts and platform configurations.
- Experience supporting regression testing and resolving upgrade-related issues.




- Solid troubleshooting capability across application, operating system and platform components.
- Ability to assess an existing environment and define a practical target architecture.
- Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to operate independently and deliver within a short, outcome-focused engagement.

Highly Regarded
- Experience with Information Server 11.7.1.6.
- Experience working with RHEL 9.6.
- Knowledge of Operations Console and Information Governance Catalog.
- Experience configuring operational metadata and lineage.
- Previous delivery experience within government or another highly regulated environment.
- Experience supporting production cutovers and go-live validation activities.

Security Clearance Candidates must hold a current Australian Government Baseline security clearance as a minimum.

Candidates holding an active NV1 security clearance will be highly regarded.
