The Role
As Sharon AI continues to grow, we're looking for a hands-on Data Centre Technician to join our Operations team and support the operational integrity, availability and performance of our critical data centre infrastructure. Working within live production environments, you'll provide hands-on technical support across server hardware, networking equipment, structured cabling, power systems and operational facilities infrastructure. You'll play an important role in ensuring the reliability, security and efficiency of our data centre operations while supporting business growth and customer service commitments.
You'll work closely with engineering, operations, vendors and customers across installations, maintenance activities, incident response and infrastructure upgrades. This is a fast-paced, high-availability environment where attention to detail, sound technical judgement and the ability to work independently are essential.
What You'll Be Doing
- Install, configure and maintain server, storage and networking equipment within production data centre environments
- Perform structured cabling activities including installation, termination, testing, labelling and documentation of fibre optic and copper cabling systems
- Monitor data centre infrastructure and operational systems, responding to alerts, incidents and service requests in accordance with agreed service levels
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, connectivity and infrastructure-related issues, escalating complex incidents where required
- Execute equipment deployments, decommissioning activities, migrations and technology refresh projects with minimal impact to customer services
- Perform routine inspections of power, cooling, environmental and security systems to ensure operational integrity and compliance
- Maintain accurate asset registers, rack layouts, cabling documentation, operational procedures and maintenance records
- Support planned maintenance activities, change implementations and infrastructure upgrades in accordance with approved change management processes
- Assist with vendor management activities and coordinate on-site access for contractors, customers and third-party service providers
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives through infrastructure testing and operational readiness activities
- Participate in incident response activities and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant regulatory obligations
- Support audits, compliance reviews and operational reporting activities as required
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated hands-on experience working within live data centre environments
- Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise server, storage and networking hardware
- Practical experience with structured cabling systems including fibre optic and copper infrastructure
- Understanding of network infrastructure concepts including switching, routing, patching and connectivity troubleshooting
- Familiarity with power distribution systems, UPS infrastructure, cooling systems and environmental monitoring
- Experience operating within structured operational environments and following documented procedures
- Experience using service management or ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy or equivalent
- Working knowledge of ITIL principles, including Incident, Change, Problem and Service Request Management
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and remain calm during high-pressure or critical incidents
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy, safety and continuous improvement
Nice to have:
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, ITIL Foundation or equivalent
- Experience working within enterprise, colocation, cloud or hyperscale data centre environments
- Knowledge of Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms and monitoring tools
- Basic scripting or automation capability using technologies such as PowerShell or Python
- Understanding of industry standards and best practices relating to data centre operations and critical infrastructure management
