About the role

Helms and White Dental is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic dental practice environment in Lismore, NSW. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our dentists and dental hygienists, ensuring smooth operations and delivering exceptional patient care. This position offers flexibility with casual work arrangements, making it ideal for those seeking variable hours or work-life balance.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting dentists during dental procedures, including passing instruments and maintaining the clinical environment
- Preparing treatment rooms and sterilising dental instruments according to infection control protocols
- Processing dental radiographs (X-rays) under supervision
- Maintaining accurate dental records
- Providing chairside support to ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures
- Performing routine cleaning and maintenance of dental equipment
- Welcoming patients, managing appointment schedules and handling administrative tasks
- Assisting with patient education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional clinical workspace
- Supporting the practice team to deliver high-quality patient experiences

What we're looking for

- A relevant qualification in dental assisting or equivalent experience in a dental practice setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and infection control standards (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment




- Excellent communication skills and a patient-focused approach
- Reliability and flexibility with casual working arrangements
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with dental practice management software (preferred)
- We will provide on the job training for the right candidate
- Hourly wage will be based on experience
