Deputy General Counsel – Renewable Energy | Contract | Perth

Elevate has partnered with a leading Australian renewable energy developer to appoint an experienced Deputy General Counsel to provide immediate legal support across a portfolio of energy transition and renewable infrastructure projects.

This opportunity would suit a senior in-house lawyer with substantial experience in renewable energy, major projects, infrastructure or construction. The successful candidate will work closely with commercial, development and project delivery teams, providing pragmatic legal advice across the full project lifecycle. It’s a 2 to 3+ month full-time contract with hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise on the development, procurement, construction and delivery of renewable energy and energy transition projects.
- Draft, review and negotiate:
- EPC and EPCM agreements / O&M; and LTSA agreements.
- BESS supply, installation and integration contracts along with Consultancy and services agreements.
- Provide strategic advice on contractual risk allocation and project structuring.
- Advise on project delivery matters, including claims, variations, extensions of time and contractor issues.
- Partner closely with development, commercial, procurement and project teams to support project objectives.

About You We are looking for an Australian-qualified lawyer with 8+ years' PQE and:

- Strong commercial contracting capability.
- Experience with large-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience negotiating EPC/EPCM and major project agreements.
- Exposure to BESS, renewable generation, transmission or broader energy transition projects.
- Ability to work closely with project, procurement and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and commercial judgement.
- Experience gained in a reputable private practice or in-house environment
