About the business
Our client is a leading Australian alternative real estate investment manager. It delivers attractive, risk-adjusted returns through real estate backed private credit solutions across the capital stack. Its investor base spans high net worth individuals, family offices and quasi-institutional funders across Australia, Asia, Europe and the US. The close-knit team works across Sydney, Melbourne and offshore. As the funds platform grows, the business is investing in the people who manage it.
The role
We're looking for a Director or Associate Director to take ownership of portfolio and treasury outcomes across the client's real estate private credit funds. This is a genuine investment-side seat. It suits a funds management professional whose career is built on portfolio construction, capital allocation and active fund management, and who understands that liquidity and capital planning are central to running a fund well.
Credit experience is valued, but strong funds management capability matters more.
You'll report to the Executive Director and sit close to the senior leadership team, with direct line of sight to fund performance. You'll also play a key role in shaping the platform as it scales.
What you'll own
- Portfolio construction and capital allocation across the funds and investment vehicles.
- Active management of the portfolio, covering performance, exposures, concentration limits and risk through the life of each investment.
- Treasury management across the platform,
including liquidity forecasting, cash management and capital planning.
- Fund oversight, plus ongoing management of the investment platform and funds strategy.
- Preparing and reviewing DDQs, portfolio updates, investor materials and governance reporting.
- Supporting the launch and implementation of new funds, products and mandates.
- Partnering with Distribution to support larger investors, platforms and institutional relationships.
- Managing relationships with trustees, administrators, custodians and other service providers.
- Providing insight and recommendations to Executive Management, the Investment Committee and the Board.
- Leading and developing the team, including Senior Associates and Associates.
What you'll bring
- A career grounded in funds management or portfolio management, ideally across real assets, credit or alternatives, rather than pure origination, funding or fund operations.
- 7+ years across investment management, private markets or financial services.
- Strong command of portfolio construction, liquidity management and risk oversight.
- Experience working with managed funds, investment vehicles and institutional or wholesale investors.
- Strong commercial judgement and analytical capability.
- Private credit or real estate lending experience, including construction, is highly regarded.
- Team leadership experience is desirable.
- Comfort balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution in a quick-growing business.
