About the role
You will support two sisters in their home and community, respecting their choices, routines and independence. Each sister has her own personality, interests and communication style, so taking time to get to know them and build trust is an significant part of the role.
Your support will include personal care, preparing meals they enjoy, household tasks, appointments and community activities. You will encourage them to participate in everyday decisions and do what they can for themselves, while providing assistance where needed.
You will bring warmth, patience and a positive attitude, knowing when to enjoy a conversation and when to offer a quieter approach. Working closely with the team, you will follow individual support and behaviour support plans, provide complex care within your training, and help make their home a comfortable place where they feel heard, respected and supported.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting daily routines, personal care, meal preparation and household tasks.
- Assisting with slide sheets and two-person manual handling in line with individual support plans.
- Supporting community activities, appointments and social connections.
- Providing medication assistance within your training and authorisation.
- Delivering complex supports, including PEG feeding, following participant-specific training and competency assessment.
- Following behaviour support plans and responding with patience and respect.
- Completing accurate progress notes, handovers and incident reports.
- Working collaboratively with families, colleagues and allied health professionals.
About you
- Experience in disability support, ideally in SIL and complex care.
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability or a relevant qualification.
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
- A current driver's licence.
- Good knowledge of behaviour support plans and the ability to follow individual strategies consistently.
- Clear communication, observation and documentation skills.
- Strong spoken and written English skills for clear communication, following support plans and completing accurate progress notes.
- Confident preparing meals and following individual meal plans.
