Draftsperson / Estimator

About the Role

Dynamic Steelform is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Draftsperson / Estimator to join our growing Steel Framing team in Forrestdale.

This is an excellent chance for someone who is starting their career in drafting, estimating or construction and would like to develop practical skills within the steel fabrication and construction industry.

You will work closely with our experienced team and receive training and support to develop your knowledge of steel framing, estimating, drafting and construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and update technical drawings and construction documentation using CAD software
- Assist with preparing project estimates, including material quantities, labour and costs
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Assist with material takeoffs for steel framing and other construction materials
- Review project drawings, specifications and other documents to identify project requirements
- Work with project managers, engineers and other team members to obtain information required for drafting and estimating
- Maintain estimating information, project records and documentation
- Assist with site visits, measurements and inspections when required
- Prepare and update estimating templates and documentation
- Check drawings, quantities and estimates for accuracy and completeness
- Assist the team in identifying practical and cost-effective solutions
- Learn and develop knowledge of steel framing, construction methods, materials and estimating processes





What We're Looking For
- A qualification or relevant study in drafting, estimating, construction or a related field is preferred
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of CAD software or similar.
- Experience with Vertex software will be highly regarded.
- Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- A willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- A practical and positive approach to problem-solving
- Construction, steel fabrication or manufacturing experience would be an advantage
- Previous experience with estimating software or project management systems would be an advantage, but is not essential, Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
