About OnyX

OnyX Corporations is a renewable energy development and advisory business working across solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid energy projects in Australia.

We are a lean, growing team involved across the full development lifecycle — from site origination and feasibility through grid connection, engineering, planning, procurement and delivery.

We are now looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who can strengthen our internal engineering capability and take ownership of technical workstreams from day one.

The Role

You will work across OnyX’s own development projects and client advisory assignments, with a strong focus on distribution-connected solar and BESS projects.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop and review electrical system designs, SLDs, layouts and AutoCAD drawings.
- Support system configuration, equipment selection and design optimisation for solar and BESS projects.
- Prepare and manage grid connection applications and technical correspondence with NSPs.
- Manage grid modelling workstreams and coordinate specialist consultants.
- Review engineering studies, drawings, specifications and technical submissions prepared by consultants, OEMs and EPC contractors.
- Undertake technical feasibility and due diligence assessments.
- Coordinate engineering consultants and subconsultants across multiple disciplines.
- Support project development, procurement, commissioning and client technical discussions.
- Prepare clear technical reports and communicate engineering risks and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in renewable energy, power systems, electrical infrastructure or grid connection.
- Strong AutoCAD capability and experience preparing/reviewing SLDs and electrical drawings.
- Understanding of HV/MV electrical systems, transformers, switchgear and protection.




- Understanding of Australian NSP/DNSP connection processes.
- Ability to independently solve technical problems and manage multiple workstreams.
- Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder management skills.

Highly Valued

Previous experience within an engineering consultancy will be highly regarded.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

- Solar PV or BESS projects
- PowerFactory, PSSE, PSCAD or ETAP
- Grid modelling and GPS studies
- Chapter 5 / Chapter 5A connection processes
- EPC or Owner’s Engineer assignments
- Protection, SCADA and plant control systems
