We’re hiring – Embedded Software Engineer | Industrial Systems & Automation We’re growing our software capability at Integrelec and are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with professional experience developing embedded systems to join our Brisbane team.
This role will have a robust focus on the continued development of GridLogik, our industrial energy and control platform, while also giving you the opportunity to work across the industrial automation projects delivered by our engineering team.
We’re specifically looking for someone who has worked professionally within embedded systems and is comfortable working closer to the hardware and lower levels of a system — not just application-level software development.
You’ll be working across areas such as:
- Low-level and embedded software development in C
- Development and integration using Node-RED
- Embedded hardware/software integration
- Device-level communications and data handling
- Industrial networking and communications
- Integration of embedded systems into the IEC 61131-3 automation workplace
- Protocols such as Modbus TCP, MQTT, and industrial Ethernet
- Edge computing, industrial IoT and data acquisition
- Development, testing and continued evolution of GridLogik
What makes the position a little different is that your work won’t stop at the embedded device.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside our industrial automation team and gain exposure to the types of systems we design, develop and commission every day, including PLC and safety PLC systems, HMI/SCADA,
industrial networks, machine control, process control, motion systems and systems integration.
That means you can be involved across the full system — from the embedded software and communications layer through to PLCs, field equipment and ultimately the physical plant being controlled.
What we’re looking for Our key requirement is demonstrated professional experience in embedded systems development.
We’d particularly like to hear from someone with experience in areas such as C/C , embedded hardware, communications protocols, debugging, device integration and developing software intended to run reliably in real-world systems.
Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, IEC 61131-3, SCADA or industrial communications would be highly regarded, but you do not need to already be an automation engineer.
We can teach the industrial automation side.
What we want is someone with a strong embedded foundation who is interested in applying those skills to industrial systems and developing a broader understanding of how software, hardware, networks and control systems all interact.
This could be a particularly good opportunity for an embedded engineer who wants to move beyond developing a device in isolation and get involved in how that device integrates into and controls a complete industrial system.
