We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Gas sector in Melbourne.
About The Role
- Provide leadership and guidance as required to ensure integration of technical knowledge across the project team, relevant contracts personnel and delivery partners such to enable a clear understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Challenge and support staff to grow and develop their skills and capability based on their individual strengths, future career aspirations and business needs
- Model the organisation's values, and exercise judgment, initiative, professionalism
- Proactively builds and maintain relationships with key in/external stakeholders including Australian office,
relevant business units in head office, clients, delivery partners, consultancy etc.
- Communicate complex information and concepts in a clear, compelling manner to influence internal and external stakeholders
- Develop collaborative solutions and provides advice with an understanding of the key issues and drivers
- Risk assessment and establishes strategies to mitigation time / cost impacts
- Oversee design reviews and develops technical solutions to build upon reference designs and create a competitive edge
- Review the forward pipeline of works and active pursuits to forecast future resourcing demands, identify potential talent gaps whilst playing an active role in recruitment and retention strategies
- Manage and control the effective implementation of commercial frameworks and processes, including head contract and subcontract administration (change management), commercial risk analysis, and reporting
- Lead the identification and quantification of head contract scope changes and all subsequent technical presentations with the client
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and all relevant policies and processes
- Champion health, safety, environmental,
and community responsibilities within the project team
- Lead the project team by fostering a cooperative environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
About You
- Extensive experience as an Engineering Manager
- 20 plus years major infrastructure experience and minimum 8 years' experience with Renewable Energy sector
- Must hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
- Deep expertise in pipeline stress analysis software (e.g., Caesar II), gas hydraulic modeling, pipeline routing, and compressor/regulator station design.
- Mastery of high-pressure gas pipeline design, pressure vessel codes, valve specification, safety management studies (SMS), and pipeline integrity management systems.
- Heavy familiarity with Australian standards (e.g., AS 2885) environmental constraints, cultural heritage, easements, and zoning regulations.
- The capability to manage EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) partners, raw material supply chains (steel, conductors), and specialized field labor.
- Experience mitigating budget overruns, allocating resources dynamically when staffing shortages hit, and navigating material cost inflation.
- Ability to lead, inspire and motivate diverse teams
- Adept at identifying key stakeholders and engage their support
- Advanced level of influencing, interpersonal and negotiation skills that establish productive relationships and partnerships
