About the role
This role exists to support the successful tendering and delivery of Total Project Australia projects by providing accurate, timely and well-organised estimating and tender preparation support. The Estimator is responsible for reviewing tender documentation, completing quantity take-offs, obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor pricing, preparing cost estimates and assisting with the preparation and submission of tenders using TPA's construction management, estimating and document management systems. The role works closely with management and project teams to ensure estimates reflect the scope of works, project requirements, remote delivery conditions and available market pricing.
Key responsibilities
- Review invitations to tender, drawings, specifications, schedules, scopes of work and other tender documentation
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs from construction drawings, specifications and other project documentation
- Identify suppliers and subcontractors appropriate to each tender package and prepare requests for quotation
- Review quotations against the tender scope to identify exclusions, qualifications or gaps
- Prepare detailed estimates using quantities, labour requirements, material costs, plant, subcontractor quotations and other relevant project costs
- Assist with preparation of tender schedules,
pricing schedules and other commercial submission requirements
- Maintain accurate and organised electronic tender and estimating files within TPA's nominated systems
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, ambiguous scope items and potential commercial or delivery risks
- Maintain estimating templates, pricing information and historical cost data
- Support continuity between estimating and project delivery by ensuring awarded tender information can be efficiently transferred to the project team
About you
- Previous experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, contract administration, project administration or a related construction role
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Experience completing or assisting with quantity take-offs
- Solid numerical ability and attention to detail
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using construction management, estimating, take-off or related project software will be highly regarded
- Good understanding of construction materials, trades and sequencing
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tender deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
