About the role

Millen Civil is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position based in Geelong, VIC 3220. As an Excavator Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavation equipment on various construction projects.

This role is crucial to the success of our operations, ensuring that earthmoving tasks are completed to the highest standards of safety, precision and productivity. You will be an integral part of our construction team, working on diverse projects that require skilled plant operation and a commitment to excellence.

Key responsibilities

- Operate excavators and related earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently on construction sites

- Conduct pre-operational checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance

- Follow site safety protocols and comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines

- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, spotters and other team members to coordinate work activities

- Excavate, grade and move materials in accordance with site plans and specifications

- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and hours worked

- Identify and report equipment faults or hazards to supervisors promptly

- Contribute to a positive and safe working environment for all team members

What we're looking for

- Valid Heavy Equipment Operator certification or equivalent recognised qualification

- Demonstrated experience operating excavators in a construction or civil engineering environment

- Current manual driver's licence

- Ability to work safely and follow site-specific safety procedures without compromise

- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team





- Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions

- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

- Reliability and consistent attendance

- Preference for candidates with experience on civil works or infrastructure projects
