Doctors at Ormeau Town Centre is a busy general practice dedicated to providing quality healthcare to our local community. We are looking for an experienced, reliable and organised Medical Receptionist to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in general practice, takes pride in providing outstanding patient service and has the confidence to take on additional responsibilities, including some day-to-day management and team coordination.

About the Role

This is more than a traditional medical reception role. Alongside managing front-desk duties and supporting the smooth running of the practice, you will assist with day-to-day operational tasks and help ensure the team and clinic run efficiently.

The successful applicant will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, able to take initiative and comfortable stepping into a leadership role when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Welcoming patients and providing friendly, professional customer service.
- Managing appointments, phone enquiries and patient correspondence.
- Processing payments, Medicare claims and other administrative duties.
- Supporting doctors and nursing staff with the daily running of the practice.
- Assisting with staff coordination, workflow management and general team support.
- Helping oversee daily operations and ensuring practice procedures are followed.
- Assisting with problem-solving, patient enquiries and operational issues as they arise.
- Supporting the implementation of practice policies and maintaining efficient administrative processes.

About You We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring both experience and initiative to the role.

To be successful,



you will have:

- Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist in a general practice or GP clinic.
- Previous management, supervisory or team-lead experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- The confidence to take initiative, make decisions and help guide a team.
- A professional, friendly and approachable manner with patients and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- A flexible and reliable approach to working hours.

Experience with Best Practice software and knowledge of Medicare billing would be highly regarded.

Hours of Work

Our clinic operates across extended opening hours, so flexibility is essential.

Shifts will vary between 6:45 am and 6:30 pm, with rostered shifts across the clinic's opening hours. The role also includes every second Saturday, approximately 6:45 am until 12:00 pm–1:00 pm, with applicable penalty rates.

We are looking for someone who can work a rotating roster and is comfortable with both early starts and later finishes.
