Description:
The opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Exploration Project Geologist to join the team at our McPhillamys Exploration team in Blayney, NSW.
Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist and Exploration Manager, this role is responsible for executing exploration programs that add value through the discovery and growth of mineral resources and reserves. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, supervision and delivery of drilling and exploration activities while contributing to geological interpretation, target generation and project advancement.
As an Exploration Project Geologist, you will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining exploration drilling programs, collecting and interpreting geological data and ensuring exploration activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard. Working closely with field personnel, contractors and other technical specialists, you will contribute to the ongoing success of exploration projects through effective planning, supervision and reporting.
This is a Residential role based in Blayney NSW.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
Support the planning, execution and delivery of exploration programs in accordance with approved budgets, priorities and best-practice standards
Manage day-to-day exploration activities, including coordination of contractors and consultants
Generate, evaluate, prioritise and rank exploration targets through geological interpretation, field assessment and integration of new data
Design and manage geological mapping, sampling, and other technical programs to refine geological models and advance exploration opportunities
Prepare exploration proposals and contribute to the development and implementation of exploration strategies
Maintain accurate exploration databases and ensure geological data is validated, integrated and available for interpretation, modelling and decision-making
Contribute to mineralisation interpretation, resource evaluation, geological modelling and prospect-scale assessments
Monitor exploration results and emerging technologies, providing recommendations to improve exploration outcomes and generate new opportunities
Prepare and present high-quality technical reports, recommendations and updates for management, joint venture partners, government agencies and other stakeholders
Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and statutory obligations, including permit conditions and reporting requirements
Mentor and support less experienced geologists, contributing to the development of technical capability within the exploration team
Undertake Senior Exploration Geologist responsibilities as delegated, including acting in the role during periods of absence
Foster a collaborative, safety-focused,
and innovative team environment and provide support across the broader McPhillamys Project as required
Skills and Experiences:
About you To be successful for this role, you will have:
A relevant tertiary post graduate qualification (PhD, MSc or Hons) in Geology/Geosciences
Demonstrated experience working in gold exploration and/or mining environments
Experience in the generation of exploration target, minerals systems and multi-disciplinary 4D dataset
Experience in the interpretation of large-scale datasets, including geochemistry and geophysics.
Proficient with GIS and 3D software packages
Technical leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills The ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing team environment
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Current Manual C Class Driver's Licence
Nationally recognised 2-Day 4WD Certificate
Current Senior First Aid Certificate
