John L Pierce (JLP) Transport is hiring multiple roles for its Sydney operations to fulfil business growth.

We are a family-owned business operating since 1949, delivering a range of bulk liquids including fuel to iconic leading brands such as 7-Eleven, Viva Energy (Shell), Ampol and EG Group across QLD and NSW.

The Role

Based in Girraween, you will load and deliver petroleum products to metro and regional NSW locations including retail service stations and commercial customers.

No previous fuel experience required.

If you have solid HC or MC experience, a safe driving history and a willingness to learn, we will train you.

Experienced fuel drivers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Shifts, Rosters & Earnings

JLP drivers have a base 7-hour ordinary shift length however drivers typically work well beyond that enabling them to increase their earnings potential. Whilst the day-to-day hours vary depending on customer demand, weather and other operational factors, most JLP drivers typically expect to work a 11–12-hour shift however some days can be shorter or longer depending on the work scheduled and operational needs of our customers.

JLP provides a variety of roster patterns but most typically we operate 2 different rosters. Our predominant roster provides the greatest number of shifts/earning potential,



whilst we also offer a ‘lifestyle’ roster which provides a reduced number of shifts and time away from work.

Option 1 – 2 per truck roster

- 2 drivers allocated per truck
- Rostered to work 11 shifts per fortnight: Monday to Friday + 1 shift every second weekend (either a Sat or Sun)
- Most drivers work either a permanent AM shift or permanent PM shift however options exist for the drivers to rotate AM/PM shifts as well
- Paid by the hour, including paid rest breaks with various allowances and penalty rates for overtime beyond 7-hour ordinary day
- 4 weeks annual leave at base weekly pay plus a 22.5% leave loading
- Additional shifts can be picked up pending business demand and driver fatigue compliance
- Earnings Potential: Based on 12-hour shifts, drivers working this roster can earn $4100-4350 gross per week. This excludes additional pay for extra shifts worked, public holidays worked or paid leave taken.

Option 2 – Lifestyle Roster

- 3 drivers allocated per truck
- Work 4 shifts per week on average across a rotating 3-week schedule of AM/PM shifts
- Only work 1 weekend (Sat + Sun shift) in the 3-week cycle, have 2 weekends off
- 1 of the weekends off in the cycle is a three-day weekend




- Additional shifts can be picked up on this roster pending business demand and driver fatigue compliance (e.g. working a shift on one of your weekends off)
- 5 weeks annual leave at base weekly pay plus a 22.5% leave loading payment
- Earnings Potential: Based on 12-hour shifts, drivers working this roster can expect to typically earn $2800-2900 gross per week. This excludes additional pay for extra shifts worked, public holidays worked or paid leave taken.

What You’ll Need

- Recent HC or MC driving experience with a safe driving record
- Knowledge of Sydney metro & NSW regional roads
- Hold or willing to obtain:
- Dangerous Goods Licence
- SLP
- BFM

Most importantly: a solid safety mindset and willingness to follow procedures.
