About Modular Farms Australia
Modular Farms is a family-owned Queensland business growing fresh produce out of custom-built shipping container farms right here in Brisbane.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a practical, reliable and hands-on person to join our team and support the day-to-day operation of our farms in Banyo and Hamilton.
About The Role The role is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the practical work, including planting, crop care, harvesting, packing and maintaining our indoor hydroponic growing systems.
You will also help monitor crop performance, record data and help manage growing schedules to ensure the right varieties are planted at the right time to meet customer demand and harvest targets. As a growing business, you'll also help with maintenance, deliveries, stock movements and the assembly of new farming systems when required.
No formal qualifications or specific farming experience are needed. We're looking for someone who is reliable, uses common sense and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
If you've got a bit of a green thumb, enjoy growing things, and like practical hands-on work, this is the role for you.
What you'll be doing
- Planting seedlings and completing day-to-day crop care
- Harvesting, weighing, packing and preparing fresh produce for orders
- Monitoring and maintaining hydroponic growing systems, including water quality, nutrient levels and crop performance
- Cleaning and sanitising growing areas, equipment, tools and workspaces
- Completing routine maintenance and basic repairs around the farm
- Receiving, organising and moving stock, growing supplies and materials
- Assisting with local deliveries and loading or unloading equipment
- Helping assemble,
fit out and install modular farming systems as the business grows
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness and workplace safety
- Pitching in with other farm, workshop and operational tasks as needed
- Able to safely use a range of hand tools for maintenance and assembly tasks.
About you
You don't need to come from a farming background to be successful in this role. We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and able to work without constant supervision
- Practical, hands-on and comfortable using initiative
- Takes pride in keeping work areas neat, tidy and well organised
- Willing to learn and have a go at unfamiliar tasks
- Able to problem-solve and adapt when priorities change
- Comfortable with physical work, including standing, bending, lifting and repetitive tasks
- Comfortable working in an indoor controlled growing environment and compact spaces
- Available for at least 15 hours per week, with some flexibility around hours
- Current driver's licence and reliable access to a car
Experience in farming, gardening, packing, warehousing, maintenance, construction or using tools would be helpful, but it is not essential.
Hours and opportunity
- This role offers a minimum of 15 hours per week, with additional hours available for those seeking more work.
- As Modular Farms continues to grow, a full time opportunity may be available for the right candidate.
How to apply
- Please apply with your resume and a short note explaining why a varied, hands-on role appeals to you.
Include your general availability and any practical experience you have gained through work, study, hobbies or personal projects.
Applications for this role will close on 30 October 2026.
