Details: Stromlo Forest Park is seeking a motivated Field Officer to support the maintenance and operation of one of Canberra's premier recreational and sporting destinations. Reporting to the Senior Venue Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for delivering a broad range of horticultural, grounds, trail and facilities maintenance activities to ensure the park remains protected, functional and presented to a high standard.
The successful applicant will undertake landscaping and turf maintenance, trail and asset upkeep, vegetation management, and the operation of a variety of plant and equipment. They will also contribute to maintenance planning, support contractors and volunteers, and ensure all work is performed in accordance with workplace health and safety and environmental requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique outdoor environment and play a key role in maintaining the facilities, trails and landscapes that support thousands of visitors, recreational users and major events each year at Stromlo Forest Park.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
Mandatory
- Current C Class driver's licence
- General Construction Induction (White card - CPCWHS1001) or willingness to obtain on commencement
- Crystalline Silica Exposure Prevention (10830NAT) or willingness to obtain on commencement
- Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
- Chemical application, storage, and transport qualifications (Chemcert III or equivalent)
Desirable
- Certificate III or equivalent in horticulture, land management or a related field
- Previous experience in turf management and maintenance.
- MR Truck and/or plant licenses (Skid steer, tractor, excavator)
- Side by side ATV operator’s qualifications
- First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake training (Provide First Aid, CPR)
Other Requirements:

Note:
This is a temporary position available for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and the start date will be discussed with successful applicant. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Appointment may be from application and resume only.
