Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have the opportunity to influence business strategy, strengthen financial systems, develop a high-performing finance function and provide the commercial insight needed to support sustainable growth.
The Opportunity
As Finance Manager, you'll take a hands on ownership of CPD's monthly financial accounts as well as working on financial strategy, planning and performance, ensuring our financial systems and processes support our operational demands and future ambitions.
Working closely with the Managing Director, Operations Manager and wider leadership team, you'll bring a commercially focused approach to financial management, helping translate business objectives into measurable financial outcomes.
Key responsibilities will include:

- Commercial and Project Performance: Oversee project financial performance, margins, cost-to-complete reporting, Work in Progress (WIP), progress claims, retentions and contract cash flow.
- Financial Reporting and Governance: Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, KPI dashboards and leadership reporting, while maintaining strong financial controls, compliance and governance.
- Cash Flow and Risk Management: Manage cash flow, banking facilities, financial risk, payment obligations (creditors, debtors, payroll, etc),
bank guarantees and performance bonds.
- Business Growth and Strategy: Provide commercial on investment decisions, business development and long-term strategic planning.
- Team Leadership: Lead, develop and grow the finance function, building capability, accountability and financial awareness across the wider business.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, insurers, clients and key commercial partners.
About You
You're a commercially minded finance leader who understands that strong financial management is fundamental to business performance. You can move comfortably between high-level strategic planning and the operational detail, building trusted relationships and providing clear, practical advice to support decision-making.
You will bring
- CA/CPA qualification, or Master's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role or a similar position.
- Experience within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of WIP accounting, progress claims, project financials and contract cash flow.
- Experience with data entry and utilising accounting software (MYOB, PROCORE or similar)
- A proven track record of developing or significantly improving financial systems, reporting and internal controls within a growing business.
- Experience managing the financial requirements of a business with a revenue base of approximately $30 million to $100 million.
- Experience working within a founder-led or privately owned business, ideally through a period of growth.
- Robust leadership,
communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage people across all levels of the business.
- A high level of integrity, commercial acumen and the ability to turn complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.
What's in It for You?
At CPD, we believe in giving good people the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and grow alongside the business.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Influence business direction: Be a key member of the leadership team, with genuine input into strategic decisions and the future of CPD.
