Your new company

Local Government organisation responsible for managing and providing services and facilities in their dedicated area. Its finance team ensures their accounting functions perform at the highest level, and that business and financial systems are streamlined accordingly.

Your new role

- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
- Collaborate with department managers and draft individual budgets
- Financial modelling to assist in preparing the long-term financial plan
- Monthly and quarterly budget reviews
- Manage investments, including monitoring of bank accounts, and investment of funds
- Oversee general ledger maintenance including journal allocations
- Management of the asset register
- Grant acquittal reconciliations
- Supervise a team of transactional staff
- Provide support with internal audit processes
- Oversee taxation obligations including GST and FBT

What you'll need to succeed

- Must be CPA or CA qualified
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
- High level financial skills, including budget preparation, and control of registers
- People management skills and ability to drive performance across a team




- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large data
- Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative and motivation
- A team player who is both collaborative and supportive
- Advanced Excel skills essential
- ERP systems skills such as TechnologyOne or Civica beneficial
- Previous experience in Local Government preferred
