About the role

As Finance Manager, you will lead a small finance team and oversee thecompany's day-to-day financial operations. You will have end-to-endownership of O'Brien Civil's finance function and be accountable for accurate,timely and commercially useful financial information. Reporting to the GeneralManager and working closely with the Directors, Project Managers andContract Administration team, you will provide accurate financial reporting,commercial insight and practical advice to support sound business andproject decisions.

You will act as a commercial finance partner to projectteams, helping translate financial information into practical actions, identifyrisks and opportunities, and improve project and business performance. This isa versatile, hybrid role offering the opportunity to work both from our office andfrom home. We recognise the importance of flexibility and are open todiscussing a working arrangement that supports both the needs of thebusiness and the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities

- Own the finance function end to end and be the primary point of contactfor finance and accounting matters
- Lead, support and review the work of the payroll and accounts payableteam, with clear responsibilities, deadlines and quality standards
- Maintain accurate, current accounting records, effective internal controlsand disciplined month-end processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual profit and loss, balance sheet andcash flow reports for the General Manager and Directors.
- Oversee the preparation and issue of client invoices from approved claimsand certificates, accurately and on time
- Monitor debtors, follow up overdue accounts and report aged receivablesto the General Manager
- Oversee supplier and subcontractor invoice processing, includingmatching to purchase orders, subcontract values and approvals
- Review, approve and reconcile each pay run prepared by the PayrollOfficer
- Maintain a reliable rolling cash flow forecast, including a short-term 13-week view,



and advise the General Manager and Directors of fundingneeds or cash risks early
- Prepare and lodge BAS, and manage GST, PAYG and FBT obligations.

About you

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce or business, or equivalentrelevant professional experience
- CPA or CA qualification, or actively working towards qualification
- Minimum 7 years' finance/accounting experience, including responsibilityfor month-end, management reporting and financial control
- Experience in construction, civil contracting, mining services or anotherproject-based contracting environment, including progress claims,retentions, job costing, work in progress and cost to complete
- Experience preparing profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reportsfor owners, directors or senior management
- Strong working knowledge of BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, payrolltax and FBT
- Experience dealing directly with banks, external accountants, auditorsand the ATO
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting/job costing software skills
- Experience or working knowledge of MYOB Advanced, TRAILD, TimeSitePro, Velixo and Xero is highly desirable.
- Experience supervising a small finance/accounts team and setting clearquality and deadline expectations
- Takes ownership and accountability, is highly accurate, organised anddeadline-focused, has strong financial integrity and discretion.
