Gippsland Asphalt currently have an opportunity for a mechanically minded Fixed Asphalt Plant & Loader Operator to join our team, based in Traralgon, Victoria. Ideally, you will have experience within a similar role or exposure to a high paced manufacturing setting, however this position would also suit someone looking to break into the asphalt production industry with a strong willingness to learn and grow. A great opportunity for training and career development within this role.

Role

- Operation of Asphalt Plant, managing production of asphalt using computer based operating system

- Managing product and aggregate orders, daily logistics of asphalt delivery trucks.

- Loader operations, keeping up a continuous feed of materials and aggregates to the plant, heaping up quarry material in storage bunkers

- General site maintenance, including greasing plant and loader, cleaning material under feeder bins and around plant, tensioning screens etc.

- Be actively involved in plant shutdown works, mixer rebuilds, screen changes, duct replacement.

- Daily reporting of volumes and any maintenance.

- Varied hours, depending on volume or haulage distance from planned works you may be required to start early, finish late, periods of night shift and weekend work

Experience:





- Be mechanically minded, and self motivated with a solid commitment to safety and quality. Hold a strong interest in the Asphalt, manufacturing or quarry industry.

- Plant operator experience in a similar production or manufacturing environment - time spent in asphalt production, concrete or quarrying.

- Previous experience maintaining plant machinery with a strong mechanical aptitude will be highly regarded

- Have a willingness to work shift work and ability to work outside normal business hours, in particular night-shift and weekends.

- Exposure to quality control/previous experience in a NATA laboratory, testing of asphalt, raw materials/ aggregates is an advantage

- Experience in logistics, administration and / or weighbridge operations (or willingness to learn)

- Hold current licenses for a Front-End Loader and Forklift is highly desired.

- Be outcome focused and have a strong work ethic

- Basic to moderate computer skills desired

- Proficient communication and team work skills
