Production Manager – Hands-On Food Manufacturing
Padstow NSW | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 4:30am Start
We are an expanding food processing facility in Padstow NSW looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Production Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our production floor.
This is not a desk management position. We are looking for someone who is prepared to get on the floor, set up machines, manage production batches and lead the team by example.
About the Role
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring production starts on time, machines are correctly set up and production runs efficiently throughout the day.
Your responsibilities will include
- Starting work at approximately 4:30am to prepare the factory and production equipment.
- Setting up and checking machines before production commences.
- Taking responsibility for machine batches, production runs and changeovers.
- Ensuring the correct products, ingredients and materials are ready for each production run.
- Managing and coordinating production staff throughout the day.
- Monitoring production output, quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting production and machine issues as they arise.
- Ensuring staff follow food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient production floor.
- Working hands-on with mixing, mincing, cutting, processing, packing and other food production tasks when required.
- Ensuring production targets and deadlines are met.
- Training, supervising and motivating team members.
- Taking ownership and responsibility for the overall production process.
About You We are looking for someone who is:

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Hands-on and willing to work alongside the team
- Experienced with production machinery and machine setup
- Able to manage production batches and keep production running efficiently
- Able to identify and resolve problems quickly
- Physically fit and comfortable with heavy lifting and manual work
- Able to work in both cold and hot production environments
- Very organised and able to follow production schedules
- Punctual and committed to an early morning start
- Able to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and food handling
- Able to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Food manufacturing or production management experience is highly desirable. Experience with machinery, batch production and team supervision will be highly regarded.
The Work Environment
We work with a range of food products including beef, poultry, pork, lamb, vegetables and other food items.
The role can involve working in varying temperatures, using machinery, standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks. All required protective equipment must be worn.
