As we continue to grow and expand our product offering, we’re developing an exciting new range and are looking for an experienced Garment Technician to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract .

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Design, you’ll lead the technical development and fit execution of apparel products from concept through to bulk production.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring our garments meet Cargo Crew’s standards across fit, sizing, construction, quality and performance , while providing technical expertise throughout the product development process.

Working closely with our Design, Product, Production and Sourcing teams and offshore manufacturing partners, you’ll play an important role in turning creative concepts into technically sound, production-ready garments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Garment Fit & Technical Development

- Lead garment fit sessions across multiple product categories.
- Assess fit, balance, proportion, comfort and functionality.
- Identify fit and construction issues and recommend practical technical solutions.
- Ensure garments align with approved fit standards and brand blocks.




- Approve samples based on fit and technical requirements.
- Drive fit consistency across product ranges.

Technical Specifications & Sampling

- Create, review and approve detailed tech packs and garment specifications.
- Manage measurement charts, tolerances, grading and construction details.
- Ensure technical documentation is accurate and production-ready.
- Review proto, fit, SMS, PPS and pre-production samples.
- Identify recurring technical or quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Factories, Quality & Production

- Communicate directly with offshore factories and suppliers on fit, construction, corrections, approvals and production standards.
- Resolve technical queries throughout development and production.
- Support manufacturing partners to achieve our required quality and fit standards.
- Monitor garment quality, workmanship and consistency.
- Recommend improvements to garment construction, durability and performance.
- Support quality assurance and root-cause analysis.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

You’ll bring:

- 5+ years’ experience in a Garment Technician or similar role.
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction and apparel manufacturing.
- Strong expertise across garment fit, grading and pattern interpretation.




- Strong knowledge of fabrics, stretch and recovery, sewing techniques, wash treatments and finishing methods.
- Experience working directly with offshore factories across multiple product categories.
- Strong technical specification and tech pack management skills.
- Knowledge of Australian apparel compliance and labelling requirements.
- Experience within uniforms or workwear would be highly regarded.
- Adobe Illustrator and Excel proficiency.
- Confidence leading fit sessions and technical discussions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong quality focus.
- Robust problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple categories, priorities and deadlines.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE You’ll help deliver consistent, well-fitting and production-ready garments , improving fit accuracy, technical documentation and sample approvals while minimising production issues and unnecessary development delays.

You’ll build strong relationships with our internal teams and manufacturing partners and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to improving quality and getting great product into production.
