An established and highly regarded Australian facilities management and construction services business is seeking an accomplished General Manager. This is an immediate-start 9-month contract engagement with an option to extend or renew in July 2027.

Operating across facilities management, building maintenance, construction and project delivery, the organisation has built a strong reputation for providing reliable, high-quality services to a diverse portfolio of government and private-sector clients.

This is a genuine senior leadership position with responsibility for the overall performance of the business. Reporting to the executive leadership team, the General Manager will have the autonomy and accountability to lead the organisation across four critical areas: People, P&L;, Strategy and Operations.

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with an engaging leadership style and a practical understanding of construction projects and property service-based operations. You will be equally comfortable setting the strategic direction, reviewing financial performance, developing key client relationships and working alongside operational teams to ensure exceptional delivery.

The Role

As General Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

People & Leadership

- Lead, develop and inspire a multidisciplinary team across operations, facilities management, construction/project management, maintenance trades and corporate support functions.
- Provide clear direction to operational leaders and ensure teams are aligned with the organisation's objectives and priorities.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, succession planning and professional development.

P&L; & Commercial Performance





- Assume full accountability for the business P&L;, including revenue, margins, overheads, cash flow and profitability.
- Monitor business and contract performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive commercial discipline across contracts, projects and service delivery.

Strategy & Growth

- Work closely with the executive leadership team to develop and execute the organisation's strategic plan.
- Strengthen existing client relationships while developing new strategic partnerships and business opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement and innovation across systems, processes and service delivery.

Operations & Service Delivery

- Maintain executive oversight of construction/project delivery, facilities management, maintenance, and minor works activities.
- Ensure contracts and projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and in accordance with agreed client KPIs and service standards.
