Mordialloc
Hanks Bagelry has 2 stores (Armadale and Chadstone) and a production kitchen in Mordialloc. Three buildings, some gardens, a few vehicles, a lot of equipment, and a never-ending list of things that need fixing, painting, building, or a proper clean.
We're not after a facilities manager or a wizard. We're after a proper handy person who likes being busy, does the work themselves, and gets a kick out of a place looking glorious.
The deal
- Super flexible. Around 3 days a week, you pick which ones, and we'll flex with you. No full time obligation.
- Daytime hours, weekdays.
- $45 per hour casual, plus super.
- Based at Mordialloc, with the odd run to Armadale and Chadstone in your own car. We pay the kms.
- Tools here if you need them. Bring your own if you'd rather.
- You'll run your own day. We're not going to hover.
- Ongoing. Start when you're ready.
What you'd be doing
- Fixing things yourself. Doors, locks, hinges, shelving, taps, tiles, plaster, the squeaky thing. If it's broken, you're the one fixing it.
- Painting. Walls, doors, fences, floors, touch-ups. The sites should always look freshly done.
- Building things. Shelving, benches, storage, trolleys, whatever makes someone's day easier.
- Gardens and grounds. Mowing, edging, weeding, pressure washing, bins, the lot.
- Washing and looking after the vans.
- Keeping the factory clean and in order, inside and out.
- Having a go at equipment when something's playing up (belts, seals, hinges, blockages), and knowing when it's one for the specialist.
- Looking after everything. If it belongs to Hanks and it's not a bagel, it's yours to keep in good nick.
Who you are
- Properly handy. A trade background is a bonus, not a must. What matters is you can fix, build, and paint to a good standard without being told how.
- Hands-on. You'd rather fix it than ring someone.
- The sort of person who sees a scuffed wall and can't leave it.
- Organised enough to keep a list and close things out.
- Full driver's licence and your own car.
- Fit for the work. Lifting, ladders, on your feet.
- Fine with food-business basics (hairnets, hygiene, the odd induction).
- Licensed work stays with licensed trades. We're not asking you to rewire anything.
This would suit someone who's done the hard yards, has stepped back from full-time work, and wants to keep busy and useful a few days a week without the grind.
How to apply
Hit apply and answer the questions. No cover letter needed. If you've got a photo of something you built, fixed, or painted, attach it.
