An established and growing commercial design & construct business is looking to appoint a Head of Operations to take ownership of project delivery, operational performance and people across the business.

This is a genuine senior leadership opportunity for someone who understands commercial construction and knows how to create structure, drive accountability and get the best out of project teams.

Working closely with the Director and senior leadership team, you will have oversight across the day-to-day operation of the business – from project performance and profitability through to resourcing, systems, processes and team development.

This role would suit an experienced Head of Operations, General Manager, Construction Manager, Projects Director or senior operational leader from the commercial fit-out, refurbishment or D&C; sector who is ready to have a broader influence across a business.

The Role

You will take responsibility for:

- Leading the day-to-day operational performance of the business
- Overseeing multiple commercial projects from commencement through to completion
- Providing leadership and direction across Project Managers, Site Managers, Design and delivery teams
- Monitoring project performance, programme, costs, margins, cash flow and profitability
- Working closely with the leadership team on forecasting, resourcing and business performance
- Identifying project and commercial risk early and driving practical solutions
- Improving systems, processes and operational efficiencies across the business
- Establishing clear KPIs, reporting and accountability across teams
- Supporting recruitment, workforce planning, performance and development
- Creating greater consistency across project delivery while maintaining a high standard of client service





About you You will already be operating at a senior level within commercial construction, fit-out, refurbishment or design & construct and have a strong understanding of what drives successful and profitable project delivery.

Importantly, you will bring both commercial capability and robust people leadership .

You will ideally have

- Experience leading multiple project teams within a commercial construction environment
- Strong financial and commercial acumen across budgets, margins, forecasting and project profitability
- The ability to interrogate project performance and identify issues before they become problems
- Experience implementing better systems, processes and reporting structures
- Strong leadership skills with the confidence to hold people accountable while developing and supporting your team
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- The ability to move comfortably between the detail of project delivery and the bigger picture of business performance

Salary: $180,000 – $250,000 + super, depending on experience.
