About the role

This is a full-time position, fixed term until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension. Located in Caringbah.

The Health Promotion Project Officer oversees the planning, implementation, delivery and evaluation of mental health promotion, wellbeing and social connection initiatives in the Sutherland Shire region.

The role involves engaging with the community to design, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives that improve health outcomes for the communities. This includes:

- Improving access to care for priority populations
- Supporting early help seeking
- Building community understanding of mental health and wellbeing through delivering mental health skills training
- Designing health promotion initiatives with community groups
- Managing and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, or education.
2.



Demonstrated experience engaging and communicating effectively with groups, including public speaking and tailoring communication to diverse audiences.
3. Strong understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of people with mental health and/or substance use issues or experiencing adversity.
4. Awareness of the needs of diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, multicultural, and LGBTIQA communities.
