Phosphate Resources Ltd trading as Christmas Island Phosphates

West Perth

About PRL Group

Founded in 1990, Phosphate Resources Ltd (PRL Group) began on Christmas Island as a community effort to sustain local livelihoods and preserve the legacy of generations of islanders.

Today, PRL Group is an integrated and diversified business with operations across Resources, Energy, Agri-Business, Logistics, and Facilities Management. Our recent acquisition of the Ardmore Phosphate Mine in Queensland strengthens our position as a leading player in the phosphate and resources sector.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced proactive HR Business Partner to deliver practical, people-focussed support across our organisation. Reporting to the HR Lead, this hands-on role will partner with leaders and employees to manage day-to-day HR matters, implement People & Culture initiatives and continuously improve our people practices, processes and systems. The role will work within the direction and priorities set by the HR Lead, escalating complex, sensitive or high-risk matters as appropriate.

This role is permanent full-time and can be based either on Christmas Island or Perth (with regular travel to Christmas Island).

What you’ll do

- Provide practical, timely day-to-day advice to leaders and employees on workplace relations, policies, industrial instruments and relevant legislation.
- Coach and support leaders to build confidence and capability in managing routine people matters.
- Implement People & Culture strategies, initiatives, processes and policies in line with priorities established by the HR Lead.
- Support employee relations matters, applying sound judgement and escalating complex, sensitive or high-risk issues.

- Maintain accurate employee records and HR system data, prepare workforce reporting and identify trends or issues requiring further attention.
- Build trusted, team-oriented relationships and champion an inclusive, safe and respectful workplace.

What you’ll bring

- Demonstrated experience in an HR Business Partner or comparable generalist HR role.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, awards, industrial agreements and relevant case law, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.
- Experience developing and delivering engaging workshops, presentations and information sessions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and a high level of integrity and discretion.
- Well-developed organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence using HR information systems and other business systems.
- A current C Class driver’s licence or equivalent.
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or a related discipline is desirable.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in a broad, hands-on role. Working closely with the HR Lead, leaders and employees, you will translate HR priorities into practical outcomes, strengthen manager capability and support the consistent delivery of responsive and effective HR services.

How to apply

If you are a collaborative, commercially minded and solutions-focused HR professional who enjoys working across the full employee lifecycle, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
