Rear Lift Driver / Operator

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Rear Lift Driver / Operator to join our waste collection team. This role involves operating a rear lift waste collection vehicle, completing scheduled collection routes, and ensuring waste and recycling services are delivered safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate must be comfortable with early morning starts, long working days, and regular weekend work. Waste industry experience is highly regarded; however, candidates with 5+ years of heavy vehicle driving experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate a rear lift waste collection vehicle.
- Complete scheduled waste and recycling collection routes.
- Operate rear lift equipment to collect and empty bins.
- Safely manoeuvre vehicles in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
- Conduct daily vehicle pre-start inspections and report defects.
- Comply with all road safety, WHS, and company procedures.
- Ensure waste is collected, transported, and disposed of safely and efficiently.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and vehicle issues.
- Communicate professionally with customers, the public, and team members.
- Complete required paperwork, route sheets, and operational records.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve operational targets.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current HR Licence or higher.
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle operation and road safety requirements.
- White Card
- Excellent reliability and a strong work ethic.




- The ability to work extended shifts and remain focused throughout the day.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage collection routes effectively.
- The physical capability to perform the duties associated with waste collection.

Desirable
- Previous waste industry experience.
- Experience operating rear lift, side lift, hook lift, or similar waste collection equipment.

Working Hours This position requires flexibility and commitment to operational requirements.
- Monday to Friday roster
- Approximate start time: 2:00 AM
- Typical shift length: 9 to 12 hours per day
- Alternating weekend roster (Saturday or Sunday)
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required

- Complete vehicle and equipment pre-start checks.
- Follow all WHS and company safety procedures.
- Wear and correctly use all required PPE.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and vehicle defects.

- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, traffic conditions, and workplace hazards.
