Hospitality Tasmania is looking for an exceptional relationship builder, connector and industry advocate to lead industry engagement for Beer Tasmania, our dedicated division supporting Tasmania’s independent brewing sector.
We’re looking for someone who loves the independent beer industry, understands business and is exceptional at building relationships and turning conversations into action.
Reporting to the COO of Hospitality Tasmania, you’ll work with independent breweries across the State, building trusted relationships and connecting the industry with government, tourism, hospitality, commercial partners and new opportunities.
This is a role for someone who wants to be out in industry, understands how to bring people together and can help turn a shared vision for Tasmania’s independent brewing sector into tangible outcomes.
The opportunity
Beer Tasmania has been established as a dedicated division of Hospitality Tasmania to strengthen, represent and grow Tasmania’s independent brewing sector.
As Industry Engagement Manager, you’ll be a key point of connection for the industry.
You’ll listen to industry, understand the challenges and opportunities, build strong partnerships and then use the networks, influence and resources of Hospitality Tasmania to help get things done.
One day you might be visiting breweries in Northern Tasmania, the next meeting with government or tourism partners, developing an industry-wide commercial initiative, bringing breweries together for an industry forum or connecting a producer with a new opportunity through Hospitality Tasmania’s statewide network.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead a broad program of industry engagement and business development, including:
- Building genuine, trusted relationships with independent breweries across Tasmania.
- Being highly visible in the industry — regularly visiting breweries and understanding what is happening on the ground.
- Bringing breweries together around shared challenges, opportunities and collaborative projects.
- Building solid relationships with State and Local Government and advocating for industry priorities.
- Developing Beer Tasmania’s industry intelligence through statewide benchmarking, research and consultation.
- Identifying industry-wide commercial opportunities across areas such as insurance, procurement, freight, logistics, energy and operating costs.
- Working alongside Hospitality Tasmania’s Workforce Development Manager to identify skills needs and develop brewery-specific workforce and education initiatives.
- Working with Tourism Tasmania, regional tourism organisations and hospitality businesses to grow beer tourism and regional visitation.
- Connecting breweries with Hospitality Tasmania’s statewide network of hotels, restaurants, bars, venues, events and commercial partners.
- Developing industry events, networking opportunities and collaborative promotional initiatives.
- Identifying relevant grants, partnerships and funding opportunities.
- Delivering the annual Beer Tasmania Work Plan and Government Funding Deed outcomes.
Some big things you’ll help deliver in 2027 There’s plenty to get excited about. Key priorities include:
- Launching Beer Week in Northern Tasmania, bringing together breweries, hospitality businesses, tourism partners and communities.
- Supporting the development of the Northern Beer Trail, connecting independent breweries with regional tourism and the wider visitor economy.
What you’ll bring To succeed in the role, you’ll have:
- Demonstrated success in relationship management, stakeholder engagement, business development or industry development.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to build trust with a diverse range of people.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence engaging with business owners, government,
tourism organisations and commercial partners.
- Experience taking projects from concept through to delivery.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commercial awareness and an ability to identify opportunities that create value for an industry.
- The ability to work collaboratively while also operating independently.
- A genuine interest in Tasmania’s independent beer industry.
- A current Tasmanian Driver Licence.
- The capacity and willingness to travel regularly throughout Tasmania.
Experience in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, industry associations, membership organisations or government relations will be highly regarded.
How you’ll work
This is a full-time, hybrid position with flexibility to work between the Hospitality Tasmania office, from home and out in industry.
Regular statewide travel is an essential part of the position. You’ll spend time visiting breweries, regional communities and industry partners and attending meetings, events and stakeholder engagements around Tasmania.
Some work outside standard business hours will also be required for industry events and engagement.
