Salary range: $140,537 + 13.5% superannuation.

About the role

The Information Governance & Security Lead is a critical leadership role responsible for shaping and driving the City of Hobart's information governance, privacy, cyber security and information protection capability.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Council's information governance and cyber security frameworks, ensuring organisational compliance, effective risk management and trusted information practices across the organisation. You will act as Council's recognised authority on information governance, cyber security, privacy and information risk, influencing strategic decision-making and helping the City navigate emerging technologies, digital transformation and AI governance.

Key accountabilities include

- Leading Council's information governance, privacy and cyber security strategy and roadmap.
- Providing authoritative advice to executive leaders on governance, compliance, risk and security matters.
- Driving organisational maturity across information governance, cyber resilience, privacy, data governance and AI governance.
- Overseeing information-related risk, assurance, audit and compliance programs.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen governance and security outcomes.
- Leading and developing a small specialist team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About you

You are a strategic and influential leader who can translate complex governance, cyber security and risk concepts into practical business outcomes. You bring extensive experience operating in complex environments where governance, compliance and organisational risk management are critical.

You have a demonstrated track record of developing strategy, leading enterprise-wide improvement initiatives and providing trusted advice to senior executives and governance bodies. You are comfortable navigating emerging technology risks, driving change and building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

To be successful, you will bring:

- Significant experience in information governance, cyber security, privacy, risk management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading organisational governance, risk, assurance or transformation initiatives.
- Robust leadership capability, including mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Governance, Risk Management or a related field.
- Knowledge of contemporary governance, privacy and cyber security frameworks and standards.

Experience within local government,



the public sector or other highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
