Intermediate Accountant | Tax & Business Services

Salary: $80,000 to $95,000 + superannuation & bonus

Location: Red Hill, Brisbane QLD

Work style: Permanent full-time | Hybrid | One day WFH

Build your technical capability through varied client work, regular training and direct access to experienced accountants and Directors.

This permanent full-time opportunity combines tax and business services assignments with opportunities to support advisory projects. Client contact forms part of the role from the outset, helping you develop the communication skills and judgement needed at Senior Accountant level.

Weekly training, CA/CPA study support and regular development discussions provide structure around your progression. Hybrid working starts from commencement, with one day working from home each week.

The Role

Working alongside senior accountants, supervisors, managers and Directors, you will prepare client assignments and build greater ownership of your workflow with appropriate guidance and review.

Key responsibilities include

- Preparing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs
- Preparing BAS and IAS, and assisting with PAYG obligations
- Following up client information and responding to general accounting and tax queries
- Researching taxation matters and discussing findings with senior colleagues
- Assisting with advisory projects under supervision, including tax planning and cash flow forecasting
- Managing assigned deadlines using Xero, XPM and FYI Docs
- Applying review feedback to improve technical accuracy and professional judgement

Compliance provides the foundation of the position, with broader responsibilities developing as your experience and capability grow.

About Our Client

Our client is an independent accounting and advisory practice based on Brisbane’s city fringe, led by two Directors and supported by a team of 18.

The client base includes family groups,



high-net-worth individuals and privately owned businesses across construction, professional services, healthcare, hospitality, retail, manufacturing and property development.

Many business clients have annual turnovers between $1 million and $20 million, with some larger groups exceeding $50 million. Companies, trusts, partnerships, SMSFs and complex group structures provide a broad range of technical work.

Beyond compliance, the practice delivers acquisition and due diligence advice, succession planning, restructuring and CFO-style services. A fully cloud-based environment supports collaboration and client delivery.

What You’ll Bring

- An accounting degree and at least two years of Australian public practice experience
- CA or CPA completed, underway or intended
- A sound understanding of Australian accounting and taxation fundamentals
- Careful preparation skills and strong attention to detail
- Clear communication and confidence following up client queries
- The ability to organise assignments, manage deadlines and seek guidance when needed
- A willingness to learn and apply constructive feedback

Experience with Xero, XPM, MYOB, FYI Docs or BGL Simple Fund will be viewed favourably.
