We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our production team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident operating CNC machinery, takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work, and is comfortable providing day-to-day direction to another team member.
The successful applicant will operate a range of CNC equipment including a CNC Router, CNC Laser Cutter and CNC Plasma Cutter and will work closely with our Production Manager to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Router, CNC Laser and CNC Plasma Cutting machines
- Read and interpret drawings, job specifications and production requirements
- Load programs, set machine parameters and complete machine set-ups
- Ensure components are produced accurately and to required tolerances
- Check finished work for quality and accuracy
- Monitor machine performance and identify or troubleshoot issues as required
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Plan and prioritize daily CNC work in accordance with the production schedule
- Oversee and provide direction to one other staff member working within the CNC area
- Regularly communicate with the Production Manager regarding job progress, priorities, material requirements, delays or production issues
- Minimize material waste and identify opportunities to improve production efficiency
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
About You
To be successful in this position,
you will need to have previous CNC machining/operating experience and be confident working independently.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience operating CNC machinery
- Ideally has experience with CNC routers, laser cutters and/or plasma cutters
- Can confidently read technical drawings and measurements
- Has good mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Has a solid eye for detail and takes pride in the quality of their work
- Is reliable, organized and able to manage production priorities
- Is comfortable overseeing and assisting another staff member
- Communicates well and can work closely with the Production Manager
- Understands the importance of meeting production deadlines
- Has a strong commitment to workplace safety
Experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software and machine troubleshooting would be highly regarded .
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC operator looking for a role with greater responsibility and ownership of the CNC production area .
You will be trusted to manage the day-to-day operation of the CNC machines, coordinate work with another team member and maintain regular communication with the Production Manager to keep production running efficiently.
Previous CNC experience is essential.
