McArthur is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join an established Remuneration and Benefits team within a local government organisation based in Oran Park.

Working as part of a team-oriented team, you'll support the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, including timesheets, reconciliations, payroll adjustments and employee enquiries.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll support the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, including timesheets, reconciliations, payroll adjustments and employee enquiries.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, processing and checking weekly payroll to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Reviewing and entering paper-based and electronic timesheets, including overtime, allowances and leave adjustments.
- Completing payroll reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and processing adjustments.
- Maintaining accurate employee payroll and personnel records.
- Interpreting and applying relevant awards, employment legislation and payroll procedures.
- Assisting with payroll deductions, superannuation, annual increases and year-end processing.
- Responding to employee payroll enquiries and liaising with internal stakeholders.
- Supporting payroll system improvements and other payroll-related activities as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who can bring recent, hands-on payroll experience and confidently manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
To be considered, you will have:
- Extensive payroll experience within local or state government.
- Demonstrated experience processing payroll using a computerised payroll system.
- The ability to interpret and apply the NSW Local Government State Award.
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation, payroll compliance and employee entitlements.
- Experience managing timesheets, payroll reconciliations and confidential employee information.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- A current driver's licence.
Highly regarded
- Previous experience using Civica Authority.
- Experience processing high-volume payroll.
- Recent payroll experience within a NSW council.
