Junior Accounts Payable Officer – Construction

Homes & Granny Flats is a growing residential construction business delivering homes, granny flats and modular building solutions.

We’re looking for a Junior Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with some accounts experience who is looking to develop their skills in a fast-moving construction environment.

You’ll work closely with suppliers, subcontractors, project teams and the finance team, gaining valuable experience across accounts payable, job costing, contracts, variations and month-end processes.

About the role

Working alongside the finance team, you will assist with:

- Processing and managing Accounts Payable

- Reviewing supplier and subcontractor invoices and reconciliations

- Checking invoices against approved contracts and variations

- Allocating expenses and invoices to the correct HGF jobs

- Entering and maintaining job budgets in Xero and Buildertrend

- Assisting with supplier, subcontractor and day-labour claims

- Preparing payment vouchers and collating invoices for approval

- Assisting with month-end accruals and journal entries

- Maintaining accurate invoice, payment and financial records

- Assisting with supplier account applications

- Supporting payroll tax and other monthly statutory requirements





- Assisting with Accounts Receivable invoicing and collections when needed

- Helping maintain accurate contract and job-costing information

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

- Starting out in their accounting or finance career

- Ideally has 1–2 years' accounts or administration experience

- Comfortable working with numbers and financial information

- Highly organised and pays close attention to detail

- Confident using Excel and accounting systems
- A good communicator who is comfortable dealing with suppliers and subcontractors

- Reliable, proactive and keen to learn

- Interested in developing a career within the construction industry

Experience with Xero, Buildertrend or construction accounting would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
