About the role

We are currently seeking experienced Laboratory Assistants to join our team based in our up-to-date, state of the art laboratory in Hendra, Brisbane. Your main responsibilities will be routine receipting and processing of specimens, pre- and post-analytical specimen handling, identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens, and filing and storage of specimens. You will participate in a full-time roster, which involves shift work predominately in the afternoons including evening and weekends.

Key duties:

- All specimen reception tasks, including:
- Receipting and processing samples

- Pre-analytical duties

- Packing specimens for transportation

- Accurate, timely data entry and records management





- Attending to phone calls as required

- Adhering to relevant policies, procedures and legislation

- Prioritise and organise workflow safely and efficiently, and commitment to quality

- Work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team

Selection Criteria

Required

- Demonstrated customer service experience and skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff

- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues

- High attention to detail while working to deadlines

- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate and efficient data entry

- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team

- Ability to work evenings until 10pm and weekends when required

Desirable
- Previous experience processing medical laboratory samples

- Experience operating laboratory analysers

- Certificate III in Pathology Assistance
