Litter & Illegal Dumping Prevention Officer
3-year contract, Full Time35hr week, 9 Day fortnight
Based in Hillsdale with ample free all-day parking
Salary from $95,969 to $107,485 pa + 12% super

About the role
This role is responsible for developing, coordinating and delivering programs, projects and initiatives that prevent litter and illegal dumping, improve public amenity, and support positive behaviour change across the Bayside local government area. The role will implement Council's Litter and Illegal Dumping Prevention Strategy through community education, stakeholder engagement, hotspot management, data analysis, infrastructure improvements, grant-funded projects and place-based interventions.
The role will also support the delivery of Council's Town Centre Uplift Program by improving cleanliness, environmental amenity and the presentation of identified town centres and public spaces through targeted prevention, education and engagement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:
- Develop, deliver, maintain and evaluate community education and engagement programs that reduce litter and illegal dumping, improve public amenity, and support positive behaviour change.
- Identify, assess and coordinate litter and illegal dumping hotspot management and amenity improvement initiatives.
- Identify, secure and manage infrastructure, project and grant funding opportunities that support Council's strategic and operational objectives.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data, and prepare reports, presentations and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage NSW EPA-funded projects, including the preparation and submission of milestone reports, performance reports, funding acquittals and other grant compliance requirements.
- Liaise with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), project partners and funding bodies to support project delivery and ensure compliance with funding agreements.
- Provide regular updates, reports and presentations to project Steering Groups, Working Groups and other governance forums.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with Council staff, government agencies, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders.
- Support the Coordinator Circular Economy and broader Workplace & Resilience team in achieving strategic objectives and operational outcomes.
- Contribute to business planning, budgeting, continuous improvement and service delivery initiatives.
About you
- Degree qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Community Development, Behavioural Science, Planning, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering community education, engagement or behaviour change programs.
- Experience managing environmental, waste, litter, illegal dumping or public amenity initiatives.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, implementation, procurement, budgeting and evaluation.
- Experience collecting, analysing and reporting on program performance data.
- Demonstrated experience managing grant-funded projects, including compliance reporting, stakeholder liaison, milestone reporting and funding acquittals.
- Experience liaising with government agencies,
project partners and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare reports, presentations, grant applications and funding acquittals.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.

Salary Range: $95,969 to $107,485 pa + 12% super.
