Located in Beaudesert, Bush's Proteins is one of Australia's largest service rendering plants. Bush's Proteins is a function of the A J Bush & Sons business which is family owned and operated with over 115 years of history in the meat industry. The Head Office is located in Homebush, NSW.
Bush's Proteins converts animal by-products into valuable commodities such as meat-based protein meals and fats / oils, commonly used as key ingredients in stock feed, pet food, aqua feed and fertiliser.
About the role The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and optimising all transport and logistics operations to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of raw materials and related transport activities across the business. The role coordinates collection point compliance, route optimisation, transport reporting, and cost control while supporting operational continuity and production requirements when needed.
The Logistics
Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining transport performance, contractor compliance, raw material quality standards, and operational communication while contributing to a positive safety culture and professional working setting.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse, coordinate, and optimise all plant logistics and transport operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of products, raw materials, contractors, and fleet assets
- Liaise with drivers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate logistics requirements, communicate operational changes, and manage contractor performance
- Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), WHS legislation, NHVR requirements, company policies, SOPs, biosecurity controls, and environmental obligations across all logistics and transport activities
- Conduct compliance reviews of collection points and monitor raw material quality, hygiene standards, contamination risks, and bin management processes
- Monitor and analyse transport, fleet, and operational performance data including utilisation, downtime, fuel usage, costs, delivery performance, and contractor activity
- Manage fleet maintenance activities including servicing, repairs, inspections, registrations, defect reporting, and maintenance scheduling
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a positive safety culture by actively participating in WHS activities, training, toolbox talks, audits, and hazard management
About you
- Current Driver's Licence (C Class or higher)
- Sound understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation
- Understanding of NHVR and transport compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating transport, logistics, scheduling, or supply chain operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple deliveries, schedules, contractors, and competing operational priorities
- Strong understanding of transport compliance and contractor management
- Experience working within WHS frameworks, SOPs, and operational procedures
- Ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements
- Strong organisational and time management skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to analyse transport data, identify trends,
and prepare operational reports
- Effective communication and relationship management skills with drivers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
