Maintenance Electrician, Afternoon Shift

APC Engineering is a Victorian industrial automation and project delivery business servicing food and beverage, dairy, pharma and general manufacturing clients. We deliver engineering, automation and maintenance support to manufacturers who need skilled people they can rely on. We're now looking for an A Grade electrician to join a food manufacturing site in Rowville on afternoon shift.

The role

You'll be the on-shift maintenance electrician for the afternoon, helping keep production running across the site. You'll respond to breakdowns, carry out planned and preventative maintenance, and work closely with production and supervisory staff to minimise downtime. You'll work alongside a mechanically qualified tradesperson on shift, the role is a genuine mix of electrical and mechanical work, so we're after someone who is comfortable picking up mechanical tasks when the shift calls for it.

As the only electrically qualified person on shift, you'll need to be confident making sound calls on electrical faults, prioritising jobs and handing over clearly to the next shift.

Key responsibilities

- Fault finding and repair on production, packaging and processing equipment, including PLC-controlled systems
- Planned and preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical plant




- Assisting with mechanical maintenance and repairs, including drives, conveyors, bearings, belts, guards and associated equipment
- Responding to breakdowns quickly and getting lines back into production safely
- Working to site safety, isolation and lockout procedures at all times
- Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards while working in production areas
- Recording work completed and providing clear handover notes between shifts
- Identifying recurring faults and recommending improvements to reduce repeat breakdowns

What you'll bring

- Current Victorian A Grade electrician licence (essential)
- PLC fault finding and troubleshooting experience (essential)
- Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC experience, including Studio 5000 or RSLogix (highly regarded)
- Experience working in a food manufacturing setting
- Willingness and ability to carry out mechanical maintenance tasks alongside electrical work
- Ability to work independently on electrical faults with minimal supervision
- A safety-first mindset and an understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Reliable attendance, good communication and a team-first attitude
- Current Australian working rights
- Based in or within easy reach of Rowville

Pay: $65.00 – $70.00 per hour Expected hours: 38.0 per week
