Help shape the future of management reporting The management accounting role has been evolving for years. The commercial application of AI is now accelerating what is possible, bringing greater speed and depth to analytics, commercial insight and business decision making.

At Forgemaster, we see an opportunity for Management and Project Accountants to work directly with the whole business, helping owners and managers understand performance, recognise opportunities, manage risk and take informed action.

We’re particularly keen to speak with CIMA / CFA & CPA members who share this vision and want to help put it into practice.

The opportunity

Forgemaster helps businesses strengthen financial management, improve performance and prepare for what’s next.

We are interested in connecting with commercially minded accountants who combine sound accounting fundamentals with operational understanding, modern systems and practical AI capabilities.

Working alongside business owners, managers and operational teams, you will connect the numbers with what is happening across the business. Your contribution will extend from accurate reporting and project accounting to understanding cost drivers, evaluating market opportunities and providing business critical information while there is still time to influence the outcome. You will use these insights to develop accurate, evidence based budgets and forecasts, and inform practical strategic plans.

This includes bringing financial, operational, workforce, safety and commercial information together to give management a more complete view of business performance.

What you will contribute

- Business partnering: Build relationships across finance, operations, projects and leadership, helping people make decisions grounded in facts and commercial knowledge.
- Integrated reporting: Bring financial and non-financial information into meaningful management reports and dashboards, connecting profitability, cash flow, project delivery, asset utilisation, workforce capacity, safety performance and key business risks.
- Management and project accounting: Deliver accurate reporting; use financial, operational and market insights to develop budgets, rolling forecasts and strategic plans; analyse project and customer profitability; and monitor commitments, variations and forecast costs to complete.
- Cost driver analytics: Connect financial performance with labour productivity, asset utilisation, materials, procurement,

capacity and overheads.
- Timely insight: Identify emerging margin pressures, cost overruns, delivery risks and opportunities early, then help managers respond.
- Safety performance: Work with safety and operational teams to incorporate relevant leading and lagging indicators into business reporting, identify trends and highlight actions requiring management attention.
- Client concentration and commercial risk: Assess reliance on major clients, projects, sectors and contracts. Monitor revenue and margin exposure, debtor concentration, payment behaviour and the implications of losing or expanding key accounts.
- Payroll accuracy and controls: Work with payroll and operational teams to strengthen timesheet accuracy, approvals, employee and project cost allocation, reconciliations and exception reporting.
- Workforce and certification compliance: Support HR, payroll and operational teams with visibility over required qualifications, licences, tickets, inductions, training and certification expiry dates, highlighting gaps that could affect workforce deployment or project delivery.
- Commercial decision support: Develop pricing and tender models, business cases, investment assessments and scenarios. Translate insights into realistic planning assumptions, test strategic options and update forecasts as conditions change.
- Cash flow and working capital: Help the business understand how operating decisions affect cash, funding requirements and financial resilience.
- Systems and AI: Use integrated systems, business intelligence, automation and AI to improve information quality, accelerate analysis and reduce manual reporting effort. Validate outputs and apply sound judgement when handling sensitive business and employee information.
- Practical action: Translate findings into explicit recommendations, establish ownership of actions and work with the business to deliver measurable improvements.

Who we would like to speak with

You may be an experienced Management Accountant,

Project Accountant or Finance Business Partner who wants closer involvement in business decisions and outcomes.

We are particularly interested in CIMA / CFA & CPA members, while also welcoming conversations with other suitably qualified accountants who share this approach.

You will bring

- Robust management accounting skills and the ability to turn business insights into accurate budgets, forecasts and strategic plans, with a sound understanding of cost behaviour, profitability and cash flow.
- Experience connecting financial results with operational activities and commercial decisions.
- An appreciation of how safety, workforce capability, payroll accuracy and compliance affect business performance.
- Confidence working directly with business owners, project managers and operational teams.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
- The ability to combine information from accounting, payroll, project, asset, HR and safety systems into useful reporting.
- Experience with, or a practical interest in, business intelligence, reporting automation and AI.
- The judgement to validate information, challenge assumptions and assess AI outputs critically.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to make complex information useful to others.
- Curiosity, initiative and a collaborative approach to improving business performance.

Experience in project based businesses, civil construction, transport, mining services or other asset intensive industries would be valuable.

Why Forgemaster

Our philosophy is simple: forging stronger businesses for what’s next.

That means bringing finance, operations and strategy closer together. It means understanding the people, activities, risks and decisions behind the numbers, and providing insight that helps a business improve.

Profitability, cash flow, safety, workforce readiness and customer relationships are connected. A strong finance business partner helps management understand those connections and act on them.

As systems and AI expand our analytical capabilities, the accountant’s commercial judgement, business understanding and ability to work with people become even more valuable.

We want to connect with accountants who share that outlook and are interested in contributing to the development of Forgemaster's finance business partnering services.

Please apply to join the transformation journey.
