As our highly valued Manager, IT, you will contribute to ensuring a bright future for Queensland, Australia and our global partners. You will do this with people who want you to grow and progress.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- Experience coordinating and managing ICT operations, service delivery and technology support functions within a complex, Zero Trust and regulated, environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and manage expectations.
- Demonstrated experience of leading technical teams, driving modern workplace initiatives, and ensuring services remain secure, compliant, reliable, and aligned with business needs.
- Experience in the delivery and/or design of strategies, governance, security, and operational delivery of desktop and mobile endpoint services.
- Experience of the creation and management of technology roadmaps to ensure minimal technical debt and systems and solutions remain fit for purpose.
- Experience delivering ICT projects, business improvement initiatives and stakeholder-focused programs.
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Sound understanding of ICT service management, operational governance and continuous improvement practices.
- Well-developed communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills.

The Manager, IT is accountable for the day-to-day management, coordination and assurance of TIQ’s ICT operations, service delivery, infrastructure, applications and technical architecture, ensuring services are secure, reliable, fit for purpose and aligned with organisational priorities. The role provides expert advice to senior stakeholders, leads technical input into business initiatives, and ensures ICT services and solutions align with enterprise architecture, Queensland Government requirements and TIQ governance. The role oversees IT operations and technical projects, coordinates delivery partners and government agencies, and drives service improvement, risk management and technology lifecycle planning.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Service Delivery and Operations
- Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end delivery and support of IT services, ensuring agreed service levels and business requirements are met.
- Coordinate the response to significant ICT incidents, service disruptions and technical escalations, ensuring appropriate communication, restoration, root-cause review and follow-up actions.
- Lead and manage the operational performance and lifecycle of the organisation’s IT infrastructure, systems, and applications to ensure reliability, security, availability and performance.
- Monitor IT expenditure and manage operational licencing and supplier performance within approved budgets, delegations and procurement arrangements – escalating material commercial, performance or compliance issues to the Manager, Business Engagement and Chief Information Officer.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies,
and standards, including cybersecurity and data privacy requirements.
- Identify, assess, manage and report ICT operational risks, control weaknesses, service issues and technology vulnerabilities, implementing mitigations within the role’s authority and escalating material risks to the CIO.
Project Management
- Lead and manage technical IT projects and minor works, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Apply project management methodologies and tools to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively.
Leadership and Management
- Lead, support and manage your team member and technical resources, setting clear priorities and accountabilities and fostering a collaborative culture that supports professional development, well-being and high performance.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management on IT-related matters.
IT Strategy and Planning
- Contribute to the development of TIQ’s IT strategy and lead the implementation and maintenance of assigned technology roadmaps and operational plans in alignment with business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in IT systems and processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, vendors, and service providers.
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
