Joondalup

Edith Cowan University

Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world-class research. Embrace an opportunity to become part of something extraordinary.

Growth, Engagement and Marketing (GEM) is the heart of ECU’s growth, committed to showcasing the very best of ECU, who we are, what we offer, and the impact we make. We bring ECU’s story to life so the University is seen, chosen and valued. This commitment underpins everything we do across engagement, events, communications, brand, marketing and customer experience, shaping how ECU is perceived and experienced by its many audiences.

About the Opportunity

The Market Analyst will help ECU identify opportunities to grow student demand and understand how its courses, markets and recruitment pathways are performing.

Reporting to the Manager, Market Intelligence & Growth, you will combine University data with market research, competitor intelligence and external trends to investigate changes in performance and assess future opportunities. Your work could include evaluating an existing course, modelling demand for a proposed offering or identifying a student audience ECU could reach more effectively.

You will work with schools and teams across the University to investigate opportunities, test assumptions, and translate complex information into explicit recommendations that influence course planning, recruitment, marketing and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyse course and portfolio performance to understand changes in student demand and identify emerging opportunities.
- Investigate the potential of new courses, markets and audiences through demand forecasting and scenario modelling.
- Analyse the factors influencing student demand and recruitment outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Combine competitor, employment, industry and market intelligence with University data to identify opportunities and risks.

- Use audience segmentation and market analysis to identify prospective student audiences and opportunities for growth.
- Assess recruitment channels and pathways to understand performance, market reach and opportunities for growth.
- Partner with schools and University teams to explore ideas, test assumptions and assess commercial viability.
- Develop and maintain analytical tools and reporting to support segmentation, forecasting and market analysis.
- Present insights and recommendations that inform course planning, marketing and recruitment strategies, and investment decisions.

About You

You are a curious analyst who wants to understand the story behind the numbers. You can bring together information from different sources, investigate what is driving a result and explain what it means for ECU. You are comfortable working independently and engaging with people across the University.

You ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions and take ownership of your work. Most importantly, you can move beyond reporting what has happened to help others understand why it has happened, what could happen next and what ECU could do about it.

You’ll bring:

- Substantial experience analysing data from multiple sources, ideally in market research, commercial analysis or a related field.
- Strong analytical and modelling skills, including the ability to develop forecasts and test scenarios.
- Experience assessing market demand, customer behaviour, product performance or new opportunities.
- Experience translating complex analysis into commercially relevant insights and recommendations for decision-making.
- Strong skills with spreadsheet, database and analytical tools, such as Cognos and Power BI.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative approach to solving problems.
- The initiative to manage analytical projects and respond to changing priorities.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and experience,

or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Experience in higher education will be highly regarded.
