About us

We run programs for multicultural young people across the city, including the Navigator mentoring program, the Caf-AY barista training café, Touch Grass hikes, Rally Point social badminton, The Orbit gaming community, our annual Eid Festival and many others. We have no paid staff, so volunteers run everything from strategy to pack-down.

About the role The Marketing Director leads AY's marketing and media subcommittee: a Social Media Manager and 10 volunteer creators, designers, editors and writers. You'll set the marketing strategy, sign off campaigns and manage the marketing budget within the plan the committee approves. You'll work with the Events Director, program leads, partners and media. As a committee member, you'll also share responsibility for AY's governance.

Team leadership

- Recruit and onboard new marketing volunteers with the Secretary.

Brand, media and communications

- Own AY's brand and voice guidelines, and hold admin access to social and email accounts.
- Manage media relationships and prepare talking points for the President or a nominated spokesperson.
- Oversee the email list for opted-in subscribers, including a quarterly events update.
- Make sure all content follows AY's photo consent and child safety policies.

Governance

- Attend Executive Committee and general meetings, and take part in committee decisions.
- Declare conflicts of interest and keep committee matters confidential.
- Lead or support events with the Events Director.
- Hand over files, accounts and open work at the end of your term.

- 2 years in marketing or communications, paid or voluntary
- Experience leading a team, ideally volunteers

Role requirements

- 18 years or older
- AY membership at appointment
- Victorian Working with Children Clearance, or willingness to obtain one (free for volunteers)
- Not disqualified from being a responsible person under the ACNC Act 2012, and not an undischarged bankrupt

What we offer
