Black Friday and Cyber Monday are weeks away. Your budgets are getting signed off, your deals are submitted, and your bids are about to get VERY expensive.
So it might seem like an odd time to be curious about what else is out there in the eCommerce space.
It's actually the best time. Peak season is when you find out what your agency really thinks of Amazon. Is marketplace in the room when the BFCM plan gets built, or are you handed a budget after Google and Meta have taken theirs? When CPCs spike on the Friday morning, and you want a second opinion, is there anyone in the building who knows the channel better than you do?
If the answer is no, you already know what next year looks like. You're the Amazon person, the expert by default, and your strategy goes out the door unchallenged because nobody around you could tell you it's wrong.
So......
Picture a business where marketplaces aren't a service line bolted onto search. They're the reason the company exists. It's a global ecommerce accelerator that is also one of the largest sellers on Amazon in the world, so the people around you have spent years inside the same consoles you have. In Australia, the team runs marketplace advertising for consumer brands you'd recognise, across the Australian and US markets, each investing $5K to $50K a month.
Here, when you share a strategy, there are people in the room who can push back on it.
As Marketplace Advertising Manager , you'd take on a portfolio of those brands as their primary lead. Your weeks move between the detail and the bigger picture. Some days you're in the accounts, shaping keyword research, campaign builds and structure, and watching daily spend against budget.
Other days you're in front of clients explaining what moved, why, and what you'd do next. Every decision is measured against their commercial KPIs, not a tidy ACoS on a slide. And when you spot room to grow,
in a competitor's blind spot or something new on the platform, you're the one who pitches it.
You won't be doing it alone. You'll work with a team of advertising strategists across reporting, insights and execution, and work with SEO and Analytics specialists so a client's organic rankings grow alongside their ads.
Then there's the bit that's hard to find anywhere else. 15% of your role is set aside for training and development. Not "in your spare time". Real, structured hours for certifications, internal training, soft skills and the gaps you already know you have, with support from people who want to see you close them.
And when you're ready for more, the path is already mapped: Manager, Senior Manager, Director.
You're probably a fit if:
- You've spent 3 to 5 years in marketplace advertising at a digital or full-service agency, working with ecommerce clients
- Amazon Ads, DSP, Seller Central and Vendor Central are home turf
- You build your own reports from the Amazon Ads console and can explain what they mean for the client's business
- You can stand in front of a client and make the numbers make sense
- You run multiple accounts and the details still don't slip
What's on offer:
- Hybrid, with Mondays and Fridays from home
- 5 weeks annual leave, plus 1pm finishes on Fridays over summer
- A work-from-anywhere policy for travel
- 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers
You don't have to 100% match with what they are looking for. You just have to be curious. Think you need to be flawless to land your next role? Truth is: perfect candidates don't exist.
