We're hiring a full-time cook. You've got solid kitchen experience, you may not have a trade certificate, and you're ready to take your cooking further. You'll work your station through busy lunch and dinner services under our sous chefs, learning our menu and cooking it to a high standard. If you're reliable, keen to learn and put in the work, we'll back you.

Work your station through lunch and dinner services

Follow allergen and dietary procedures every time

Keep your section clean, organised and food-safe

Help with deliveries, stock rotation and keeping waste down

Pick up current dishes as the menu changes

About us

The Cottage Balmain is an independent, owner-run restaurant in a heritage cottage on Darling Street. We've been part of Balmain since 2012, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week with a Mediterranean style menu . The kitchen is led by two experienced sous chefs.

$80,000 + super for 45 hours a week, full-time

A share of pooled tips (currently around $50–70 a week)

Hands‑on training from senior chefs
